Nutritional Care Responsive image

Because KMI is called to serve the poorest of the poor in the most remote areas of the world, everywhere KMI has gone there is a shortage of food. Draught, lack of money to purchase seeds, locusts, corruption, and other causes often prevent local farmers from raising enough food to care for their families.

Food Bank

Beans, Rice & Maize

Working through the local churches, KMI purchases beans, rice, maize (corn), dried fish, and cooking oil. These food items are kept in a storehouse and distributed as needed to the villagers. The KMI Food Bank is funded totally by donations from kind-hearted givers. Christ has touched their hearts to prevent starvation, and KMI spends 100% of the donated funds for food, on food.

In conjunction with Powell Butte Christian Church, KMI promotes, supports, and manages the K & K Milk Project. For $10, a child receives one cup of milk per day for a month. Children between the ages of 2 and 4 are put on the “Milk Project” to make certain that they receive a great nutritional start in life.

Milk is purchased from local farmers and given directly to the children. The project is managed by Amazing Grace Church of K & K.

Food Distribution

All food is distributed at five kilos (1 kilo=2.2 lbs.) per person. That way, a family of three gets 15 kilos, and a family of six gets 30 kilos; a very fair and equitable approach. In addition, all weighing and distribution is done publicly for all to see.

There is no discrimination by religion or lack thereof. Muslims, non-believers, and Christians are all given the same appropriations
