There are literally dozens, if not hundreds, of student sponsorship programs across the world. They provide a great service for the poor and the orphans who otherwise would not be able to attend school. By and large, when we look at sponsorship programs across the world---great as they truly are----we find two very frightening aspects about them: 1) if a child does not have a sponsor, that child cannot attend school; and 2) if a sponsor decides to quit sponsoring---for whatever reason---the student is dropped from the program and no longer gets to attend school. No funding = no school fees paid = no school attendance allowed. We did not want excluded or dropped students at Amazing Grace, so we set our sponsorship program up a bit differently.
All of the students from K & K and the surrounding small villages can go to Amazing Grace: free of charge. When you sponsor a child, most the funding goes toward the school budget, so in a sense, you are sponsoring the school. But, just like the great parts of other sponsorship programs, you still get the child to connect with, to pray for the child---because I guarantee that the child will be praying for you---to write to, to receive letters from, to help if there is an emergency situation, and to see personally if you decide to visit Uganda. You are able to have a relationship that is genuinely life changing.
It costs $39 per month to sponsor a child. U.S. students who want to sponsor can become Junior Sponsors for $10 per month. If you are interested in being a K & K sponsor, please feel free to contact us through this website. We have a business partnership with Hope Africa International (HAI), of Sisters, Oregon. Hope Africa is in the sponsorship managing business. They already manage another sponsorship program, on a much larger scale. Sponsor dollars are all sent to HAI and managed by the team in Sisters. HAI sends the monthly budgeted amount to Amazing Grace. We pay HAI a small monthly fee to manage the sponsorship funds. Otherwise, 100% of the sponsor dollars go directly to support the children at Amazing Grace Primary and Secondary Schools.
Often people ask us, “What can we do to help?” or “How can we get involved?” Our answer is always the same: Pray for the ministry, pray for the children, and become a sponsor. There is nothing quite like the excitement on the face, in the eyes, and through the voice of a child when they are able to say,
“I AM SPONSORED!!!”
